The UK imports from Europe much more than it exports. If we cut ties with the EU, there would be many more repurcusions for Europeans in their employment structures if they refused to do trade with us as punishment. They have more to lose than us - especially if you look at the biggest, and the growing economic powers that exist outside of the EU: China, USA, India, Japan, etc... They don't have to pay like we do to trade with the EU. Why should we?Because power lies elswhere as we all know.
