When you hear Ron Paul say that he stands for the Philosophy of Liberty, this is what he means. The philosophy of liberty is based on self-ownership. This simple but elegant and hard-hitting animation will explain exactly what that means. It's a great tool anyone can use to educate children and adults about our right to life, liberty, and the property we create - and our responsibility to think, speak and act.For more info and/or to download a free DVD version of this video, see: http://www.philosophyofliberty... Well thanks for the honesty. I'm simply paying people more money for doing the shitty jobs is a nice thought, and full of emotional legitimacy. It's just that practically it won't work. If you raise the pay for these jobs above others, than EVERYONE will want them, since anyone can do them. They would be willing to take less and less pay than the next person to get the job until finally the wage for the job dropped back down. Unskilled jobs will always get the least pay, its a simple fact.

woah, wow your one conceided prick aren't you? you cant just say, well im smarter than you and just run the other way, from my stand point it looks likes he had a more legit arguement than you had and its pretty damn arrogant to call him stupid without even trying to prove him wrong, i think we know who just won this debate

Look, it was nice talking to you, but you're an idiot.I'm too many levels above you, man.

And if you're talking about socialism and not capitalism, then you're still wrong. If you are paid by the government (as in socialism) for you work, and you are garunteed this pay (which you are, much line modern unions) then you have no incentive to work hard (as you cannot get fired) and to try to improve your ability (as you can not climb the economic ladder). It will not and cannot work.

The problem isn't that nobody will do them. If someone could not go to college and not go to high school and not even go to grade school and make more money doing "necessary" work than doing something that requires training and skill than everyone would want to do the unskilled labor. If I could make more money cleaning toilets than say designing a computer, why would I spend the money and take the time to learn to do that? It's naive to think it will just work like that.

Well, fuck capitalism. I'm not talking about capitalism. I'm talking about socialism. I think people who work the most unskilled jobs should get paid more, because they do the things that nobody wants to do. If they didn't do them, who would? We depend on these people.

hahahathere is no such thing as "good" people and "bad" people
copenhagen1221 (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
well it's not up to us how much someone gets paid, its up to whoever is employing them. obviously people with the bad jobs, or unskilled jobs, (janitor, etc.) shouldn't be getting paid more because people aren't willing to do so.

OK? It's irrelevant to the conversation. I'm saying we should pay people more for jobs that suck only if they are jobs that need to get done and are jobs that no one else wants to do. Making yourself suffer needlessly does not give you the right to more shit than someone who does not subject themselves to that.
