Back in 1912 U.S. General stopped Islamic terrorism in the Philippines by having 50 captured terrorists tied to posts for execution by firing squad. His men slaughtered 2 pigs, they dipped their bullets in the pigs blood, insuring the horrified terrorists watched. The men shot 49 of these terrorists, dumped their bodies in a common grave and covered them with pig parts. The 50th terrorist was let go. After this, it took 42 more years before there was any terrorist incident in the Philippines!

Why did certain trends occur in world history? It is believed that the Dark Ages followed the fall of the Roman Empire. There wasnt any organisational center as a result of its demise. The renaissance was an expression of a "new" freedom and this was the next phase the Europeans entered with the dark ages marking the vacuum between the Roman state and newly freed nations. Pretty much like the independance from the British Empire where nations took time to adjust to a new reality.

Citing the Talmud won't get you anywhere. Those rabbinic writings are over 2000 years old, so if your point is that Judaism has progressed while Islam is still as repulsive as it's always been then fine. I can accept that Islam today is as objectionable as the Talmud was over 2000 years ago, but the world moves on.
