No, you can disprove the geocentric model of the earth, you can't disprove the Austrian school. You may criticize, or find evidence against it, but social science doesn't work like natural science. Also, taking an economics course for a year doesn't make you educated.

Economics is not an science and it never will be. And the nobel prize for economics is not a real Nobel-prize, because Alfred Nobel never created one. The so called nobel prize for economics was created by the Sveriges Riksbank (Swedish centralbank) in 1968, to give economics an air or scientific credibility.

I know, I'm just being facetious. :P

No, not all of them. You're right about the Friedman reference though. Saying something like that is simply ridiculous.

Austrian economist Robert Murphy has challenged Krugman to a debate on economic policy. If Krugman debates, a NYC food bank will receive $105,000 and climbing, pledged by those who want to see such a debate. So far, Krugman has refused to debate, the hungry people of NYC be damned.

Ok, I take it back... almost all of his main points are intellectually dishonest.
Michael Christison (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
The claim from Krugman that Friedman would be on the far left of the debate on monetary policy is intellectually dishonest.

We all accept the heliocentric model, and no one believes the outdated geocentric model that was proven wrong. Why is it different in economics? Why do geocentrists like Ron Paul have a large following?
4HITMAN7 (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
You have just proven my point :)
GracieJujitsu1 (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
I'm not sure what you mean. All economists are Keynesian in a way. The stuff that Ron Paul and Peter Schiff subscribe to is "zombie economics." It's the equivalent of arguing the geocentric model of the earth. |
