Not that the U.S. Constitution means anything anymore, but under it, immigration is the purview of the states, not the federal govmt.

The problem with immigration is that the immigration bureaucracy is so dense and unnecessarily restrictive. A society that was structured in such a way as to allow for completely open borders would be preferable. This would mean more private ownership of land and a different tax structure. Ending the "war on drugs" would free up enough man-power and money to take care of any violent criminals. Actual "citizenship" would be required for privileges such as voting, but "rights" belong to everyone.

I am not voting for Ron Paul but I support his immigration platform. No amnesty, no welfare for illegals, no birthright citizenship. Amnesty has been tried already, and look at the result. We simply cannot afford the welfare for people who do not belong here in the first place. Citizens must come as priority. The Birthright citizen issue has been misconstrued. It was setforth so the children of Slaves could become citizens-- NOT SO CHILDREN OF ILLEGAL ALIENS CAN BECOME CITIZENS.

I heard Lou Dobbs criticizing the H1B program. But then who would bitch about legal immgration if illegal immigrants are absent? Ron Paul is right, we need to adpot a new immigration policy. Please end birthright citizenship! No green card lotteries! No Amnesty! More assistance for legal immigrants such as English learning and faster citizenship.
