Texas Congressman Ron Paul may not be the next US President. But the firebrand Republican, who failed to win the party's nomination this year, is still hugely popular with grassroots supporters. He staged a rally in Minneapolis as an alternative to John McCain's Republican Convention in nearby St Paul, stealing much of the limelight from the party's official presidential candidate.

He didn't have a chance because BOTH parties didn't want him to be known. Now it's up to US to change that.

Right, Ron Paul is a conservative, but he didn't get the nomination to run for president did he? No. I voted for him in the primary, but he didn't have a chance because of all the neocons in the republican party. Bush Senior: a neocon. George W. Bush: a neocon. McCain: definitely a neocon. What I'm saying is that if the republican party can't nominate a conservative, I'm going somewhere else and I think other conservatives should and will do the same thing.

"Conservative", not "neo-con". There's a massive difference. He's an actual rebel.

Ahem...Ron Paul is a conservative.

Oh sure, I know what you mean. He wants to stay in the republican party because he thinks it can be reformed. And maybe it can. ... I'll give the republican party 4 years to get back to conservatism and if that doesn't happen, I'm changing my registration to something else. We haven't had a real conservative since Ronald Reagan.

Puff Puff..screw the civil liberties...we are being stripped of our hard earned money. And it isn't so we can keep it. I have no problem sharing, I just don't want government to tell me who to share it with. Someone spending your money on something you might not want to support BY FORCE is ROBBERY. Ron Paul is right!
MsticalPrincess (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
BSDenning...but Dr Paul WANTS to run under the Republican party. He wants to stay true to that because and he shouldn't have to jump his roots because he will get more votes that way. And THAT is exactly why people are paying attention. I support him in that and it's just a matter of time. Keep the faith! :)
