So Sam--after the ass kicking that the Dems received in the November midterms, when can we expect your next tract?

- maybe he does say "what Fox tells [him]"... but don't be fooled by his rhetorical manipulations... The reality is that "ratings" do not put one dollar into the pockets of U.S. corporate media. Their lifeblood is advertising dollars...and those 'sponsors' who spend the most can effectively drown out voices and ideas they do not like...Examine the so-called "liberal" institutions like ABC, CBS the Boston Globe who reject ads on single payer option & forest conservation, etc.

[please refer to the Gallup data shown below in Capt Hiltz' post]

- Looks like Mr. Hamm has pulled another 'fast one' - this time he has selectively reported data to fit his "case"...he seems to be in the habit of using sleight of hand [at other times he uses rhetorical sleight of hand]. And he's very good at it!

Yes indeed! As you have eloquently said [in the past]:We Need A Public Option Plan!

- [continued] They should contribue something back to America, rarther than just taking and taking and taking money. Free political ads would cost them nothing [and might make American "democracy" more.....genuine}.

- I look at it this way:If those American media corporations enjoy the rights and privileges of American citizenship [which they do] and wish to continmue to enjoy them...[Continued]....

I'm not even mad at the fee as much as I am mad about the absorbitant fee. For a 30 second add. I understand the logic: You make more in the long run than what you pay for the time slot. But for political candidates? Thats absolute nonsense.
csilva85 (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
- And not only advertisers are charged an "arm & a leg"...political candidates as well.... Think about it: How different would our "democracy" be if the corporate media [under the legal spirit of the old Fairness Doctrine] were not able to charge a fee for political advertisements....???? Think of how many fresh and new ideas could compete...without the money barrier to political participation in place.

- and I thank you [sincerely] for reporting what you saw! The true face of conservatism...they have nothing but contempt for the American worker... |
