Today's Republicans: Even Worse Than Bush
Republican Tea Party Presidential Candidates
It is very scary to me that current polls show the GOP possibly winning majorities in the House & Senate midterns. I don't understand how people's memories could possibly be so short. Do they not remember the huge mess that George W. Bush left the country with in January of 2009?
And it's not only that the Republican President Bush left us a huge mess, it is that the Republicans have made a political decision to stand in the way of everything Barack Obama and the Democratic members of congress have tried to do to clean up that huge mess.
The Republican Party have put their own political fortunes in front of the good of the US time and time again over the last two years. They have continually obstructed all positive movement while spreading many lies about President Obama. And now American voters want to reward them for it? It's unthinkable!
When will people turn off the nonsense of the right wing lie machine and start taking a closer look at what the Republican agenda for the future of our country really is?
I would love to say that it is simply a return to the failed policies of George W. Bush because that would be awful enough. But it's actually much worse than that. By the standards of the Republican Tea Party of 2010, George W. Bush is a "socialist."
The Republicans agenda for 2011 when they hope to control both the Senate and the House include the following:
1. Turn Social Security over to Wall Street. What's the point of Social Security if it's not secure?
2. Dismantle Medicare. The GOP hated Medicare when it got started in the '60s and they still hate it today.
3. Extend the George W. Bush tax cuts for millionaires that had a big hand in the destruction of our country's economy and greatly increased the deficit.
4. Repeal the Constitution's 17th amendment. For some bizarre reason they think that the people of the US shouldn't have a right to vote for their own Senators.
5. Start baseless "investigations" into President Obama's administration. I'm not joking, Republicans have already said they plan on doing this as soon as they get a majority. And this after the Democrats never did any investigations of the real crimes committed by the Bush admin?
It is because of this frightening right wing agenda that I must endorse every Democratic candidate running for congress in 2010. Whether it be Congressman Rick Boucher in the 9th district of Virginia or any other Democratic Congressman or Senator running against the Tea Party Republicans. It's certainly not that the Democratic Party is perfect; far from it. It's that the Republican Party of today is really dangerous to the future prospects of this country. We're in too precarious of a position to let these people get any kind of real power.
Possibly the most disturbing thing about a possible GOP victory in 2010 is that it probably would give Sarah Palin and Newt Gingrich, and the rest of the 2012 Republican Tea Party Presidential Candidates a bit of momentum.
