Countdown To December 21st 2012

I would like to start by saying have never been a believer in a Doomsday cult the whole thing smacked to much of Jonestown and many other sad events like it throughout History. Where misguided people have taken their own lives because the end of the world was coming or they thought it was. I cannot see the point in that If it was or is I would like to experience it We might as well because there is nothing after. Or so some people say.

But are the interpretations many people put on to this date correct. Did the Mayans finish their calender on this day because the conjunction and alinement of Planets made it a convenient place to conclude. Had their civilization continued would their calender have continued with them.

There are three points that need considering when we look at this subject.

1) Is the world really going to end.

In this event there doesn't look as if there is much that we can do. We cannot even see anything that could cause such an event. Unless of course Darth Vader and the Empire really is out there with a Death Star. There may be an Asteroid on a collision course with Earth that we don,t know about. Or that our Governments are keeping from us. (Just to keep the conspiracy theorists some thing to think about). It is still difficult to think of any thing that would kill every one.Even super bugs would leave some alive.

2) Are there going to be smaller changes that don,t mean total annihilation.

I think many more people would believe in this scenario than the first. We are all used to change of one sort or another. It would of course depend on how catastrophic the change would be. Lets hope the movie got it wrong!.

3) Is the world going to continue on in the same old way. Despite mankind's best efforts.

The majority of people I am sure will fall into this category and believe that there will be no radical changes. Thinks will evolve as they always have but nothing spectacular will occur on that day.

Look we are all going to make up are own mind as to what we believe on this subject. The one thing that is for sure is that we will find out on the day. The 21st of December 2012.
