Members of Congress are considering amendments to the farm bill that will require the Secretary of Agriculture to monitor and restrict the food and beverages purchased through the Supplement Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). That’s right – a food surveillance program run out of the Department of Agriculture.
I suppose some people might support this on the grounds that since folks are getting their food assistance from the government ( ie. the taxpayer ), then they should be monitored. If big brother doesn't approve of your diet, they can then step in and control what you do eat. Folks, if this is allowed to happen, everybody's food purchases will be next. I can hear them now… with Obamacare covering your health, the government should be able to monitor and restrict your diet because of the health impact.
